Closet to a Home Office Space

I'm so excited to share this with you! I've been wanting an office for awhile but our house is so small (1150 sq ft with 5 people and a large dog small) that the space just wasn't there. About a month ago I started thinking though and once I start thinking anythings possible. So I talked to my oldest about shrinking her room down a bit so I could build an office. She said ok and off I went to figure out how.

We rent our home which I like but it doesn't allow us the liberty of changing something we don't like too easily depending on what it is. My daughter's room is connected to our bathroom which we have never liked so that door is always locked unless we take a short cut to her room.

Between our bathroom to her room is a relatively spacious open closet that for all intents and purposes was where she basically threw stuff that she didn't want to put away. Case in point the above pictures.

At first I contemplated just hanging a curtain there to separate the 2 spaces but less than minutes later I knew that it wasn't going to work because it didn't feel truly separated and I really didn't want anyone coming in and bothering me while I was working or sneaking in and getting into stuff (ahem 4 yr old). So Mr Moore came up with a great idea that cost nothing since we already had the material floating around in the garage.

I built a temporary wall that won't cause any damage when we go to remove it except maybe some paint which will be easy to touch up. It's completely pressure mounted and gives me some additional miss matched shelves where the boards are holding it up on my side. I'm loving the privacy and it is kind of rustic and cute.

The space was wide enough to put in a 4 foot fold up table which is what I chose so that if I needed to use the table elsewhere, like when we have a game night, it would be easy to move. I'm always looking at items to see if they can provide more than 1 use so this was perfect for us.

Directly above the desk is the shelf. I left the rod up because I wasn't going to mess with removing it. The shelf is currently holding some office and craft supplies. I love that this small window opens so during the spring and summer I can have it open to let some fresh air in.

I'm so happy with how this space turned out. It's far from done but I love how spacious it feels and it allows me to get work done in relative quiet.

It's my happy space!
