When you feel like giving up

I can count on both hands the number of times I've wanted to quit homesteading this year. What's the point? It's too hard? We've been dealt a bad hand.

But quitting is too easy and really life isn't about being easy. Sure it's nice when things fall perfectly into place but that won't happen all the time. We are not guaranteed an easy life.

Life is lived in the seasons that all lives go through. There are moments of bliss and moments where your hurtling through white knuckling it the whole way. That's life.

It's raw, uncertain, painful, and messy. It's also breathtaking, uplifting, and beautiful.

We simply need to stop and breath in those not so good times and tell ourselves that it will all be okay. Pray. Find something to be grateful for and seek out little moments that make you smile, whether it's the laugh of a child, a hug, a good book, or tea with a good friend.

This too shall pass.

Really it does. No season lasts forever. Sometimes you shake your head and wonder what in the world you're doing and the next you're harvesting something you never thought would grow.

Never stop learning. Never stop growing. Never, ever give up.

"You have to accept whatever comes and the only important thing is that you meet it with courage and with the best that you have to give."   -Eleanor Roosevelt
